Last Saturday, May 12, 2018, a 25-member council was elected to the Finnish Somali League for 2018-2020. Mohamed Abdi Mohamoud was elected new Chairman of the council.

The council monitor the activities of the board and have the right to make proposals to the board on matters to be dealt with. The council has 30 days to meet for the first time and to elect a new seven-member board (chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer and three regular members). The board manages the affairs of the league in cooperation with the employees.
