Welcome next Saturday, March 23, 2019, to the election seminar: “Mukana päättämässä”. The event is organized by the Finnish Somali League and the European Parliament in Finland.
The event will be held next Saturday, March 23rd, at the office of the Finnish Somali League (Haukilahdenkatu 2D, 3rd floor) starting at 3:30 pm with coffee and networking. The event will be held in Finnish, but the participants will have the opportunity to have an interpretation in Somali. The “Mukana päättämässä” event aims to find out who can influence politics and how and what are the Euro elections.
“Political influencing places are not commonly used because it is difficult to get information. At the event, a unique opportunity will be created for participants to ask questions directly from the Finnish-Somali parliamentary election candidates,” says Kati Ruohonen, communication officer for the Finnish Somali League.
Reeta Niemonen, spokesperson for the Finnish European Parliament Department, will tell how the European Parliament works. In the panel discussion, we will familiarize ourselves with the Somali electoral candidates in the debate about what many Somali-Finns think: How can I influence EU affairs in Finland? The panel discussion is moderated by Maria Hukkamäki,project coordinator of the Finnish Somali League NUVE project.
Ongoing parliamentary elections will be discussed with commentary speeches on the opportunities for influencing Finland and especially young people in Finland. Bashe Ali, project planner in the Youth Expertise Center for Strengthening Youth will tell you about the motivation and opportunities of political influencing of young people. There is also plenty of time for parliamentary election candidates to face the Finnish-Somali community and answer their questions.
