The similar opportunities for young people -project (2024-2026) aims to prevent Finnish Somali youth between the ages of 13 and 29 from joining gangs and to promote their social inclusion. The activity covers mentoring, expert visits, implementation and low-threshold events. The goal is to provide young people with information, support and positive role models, strengthen their sense of belonging and promote integration into society. The project involves partners, such as the preventive unit of the Helsinki Police department and Aseman Lapset, and it aims to reach 300-450 young people annually in different cities, such as Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Turku. The project is funded by STEA.
